How can we commemorate the war? This project suggests a documentary guide and an associate route around the city to activate the document through experience.

Barcelona Civil War remains: An uncertain guide focuses on the defensive architectural remains of the Spanish Civil War. By revealing their existence, it seeks to commemorate the structures as the victims of war themselves. Unfortunately, the majority of these structures cannot be visited today, leaving a huge gap in our underground memory.

The guide documents both presences and absences: the handful of architectural remains which can be accessed and the large number of spaces that cannot be visited today. The guided tour will take place in the district of Gràcia, where there is a vast number of underground shelters, most of which are not open to the public. The route will go through Plaça de la Virreina, Carrer Torrijos, Plaça Revolució, Carrer Puigmartí, Plaça del Sol, Carrer Jaén and Plaça del Diamant.
