PROJECTES EDUCATIUS Sala d’Art Jove

ACVic Centre of Contemporary Arts, in conjunction with the Sala d’Art Jove of the Government of Catalonia, presents the two education projects chosen in the Art Jove 2015 call for proposals. Maniobres d’evasió (Evasive moves) is the project carried out by Isabel Barios Ibars and Miriam C. Cabeza around artistic interventions as tools of mediation in healthcare contexts, while Mirades post-generacionals (Post-generational looks) by Carlos Canales, Àngel Garau and Judit Onsès is a project which examines the intersection of personal experiences between people from different generations.
The projects were mentored by Marta Ricart and Cristian Añó.

Primary care centres are the first level of healthcare which work to promote health and prevent disease. Within the medical hierarchy, they are where the most direct ties are forged between the community’s needs and health. For this reason, we chose primary care centres as the sites to carry out this project. Are the windows too small? Do the users circulate fluidly inside them? What are the waiting rooms like? What are the appointment rooms like? What distinguishes or defines each area? Are there places devoted to free time or work? How do the professionals interact with the patients? What is the role of family members? How do the patients feel? And so on. In order to reach homeostasis among all of their elements, new ways of looking and new approaches that enhance these settings must be considered.

This project sets out to impact the increasing distance between young people and the elderly within neoliberal capitalist culture. It thus establishes a working framework from which viewpoints can intersect, discourses can be questioned and subjectivities can be constructed, generating both personal and collective productions, as well as opening a space of reflection. The project primarily unfolds within the region of Osona, specifically in Torelló, where the involvement of the senior citizens at the Cals Avis day care facility was enlisted. It is organised into two parts: the first part consists in prompting participative activities where the goal is to construct a space of familiarity and mutual trust; the second part entails collective production by intersecting the knowledge and methodologies of each participant.
