How can we generate new systems of revaluation outside a quoted market?

Sala de Materials Jove (Salon of Young Materials) is a space to reclaim the contemporary ruins, the aftermath and the material sediments left by the accelerated construction of Barcelona.

Sala de Materials Jove acts from the entropy of unregistered objects, which are legally in limbo, waiting to be classified in the midst of lengthy recertification procedures.

Sala de Materials Jove is an instant that generates a space to be able to give a value to “non-objects” or “abjects” and to inhabit matter out of place. This project is a platform for developing re-evaluation systems with parameters outside the standardised ones. The aim is to find strength in fragility, to rehabilitate what has been discarded based on the same definition, to put it back into circulation, to give it a new substance and thus, in a way, to practice a ritual to resurrect it.

The project is presented as an experimentation that makes it possible to detect the transformation of cities, where a portrait of paradox is generated, a metaphorical space, an uncanny valley, questioning the place, the origin, the possible future location, and assimilating the way in which collective memory is perpetuated or disappears through systems of valorisation.
