LLUMETES

Llumetes is a project that deals with queer childhood and gains meaning from two interrelated ways of working that support and complete each other. Firstly, it proposes research and reflection to create a new archive of photos that have been recovered, in which the typical everyday family photo is used to illustrate the problems which impact the family: the construction of identity, relationships with the environment and others, the sense of belonging, etc. Secondly, it proposes a collaborative artistic practice that, starting from painting, makes it possible to re-enunciate, rethink and activate images from the past to produce an interaction with the real world, the here and now. It is a retrospective of the queer childhood of people with whom I have been able to build a network of links, support and listening, which seeks to talk about the value of memory, about the collective, anchored in individual experiences, and about images and their potential for subverting capitalist cisheteropatriarchal patterns. This space for dialogue makes it possible to turn works of art into conversation and close encounters, moving away from the cold exchange of information and the mere formality towards which we are pulled by the times we live in.

The project has been supported by Òrtesia Cabrera.
