CORPUS DISIDEO

Corpus disideo is a project that seeks to undo and problematise the socially accepted concept of sex as binary. Firstly, it aims to make visible the diversity of sexes and, therefore, differences in the levels of sex hormones, chromosomes and genitalia. Secondly, it observes and investigates polluting substances, the result of human pollution, which produce effects on people’s bodies without them being aware of it.

With all of this in mind, what if we consciously used these elements to modify our sexed bodies and break with binary norms? The alteration would be carried out through the use of endocrine disruptors, chemicals that act like hormones found in objects in our environment, with the goal of changing and diversifying genitalia and hormone levels. Each person could then modify their body and sex based on their needs and wishes.

In addition to criticising the binary system and proposing a reflection on what is biological, the project aims to reprove the idea of a normative body as the only one possible.
