PROPOSICIONES PARA AFECTAR EL ORDEN DE LO VISIBLE

Proposiciones para afectar el orden de lo visible reflects how the mass circulation of surveillance images in public and private spaces shapes the gaze. This piece challenges the distanced and panoptic gaze of surveillance devices and proposes new ways of looking. It also makes us think about this question: how can we generate systems for eluding the visual regime if we materially alter images?

The project gathers public surveillance images which document situations of violence, be it in contexts of war, protests, etc. It also investigates how invisibility, opacity and sonic agency can proffer alternatives to the surveillance gaze. The intervention on these images using artificial intelligence programs is designed to deactivate the logic of surveillance. The intervened images and audiovisual files are intended to open up a space for rethinking the relationship between images and our political and affective perception.

The project is accompanied by Marta Azparren.
