PSEUDODISEÑO

Every day, dozens of people gather at the entrance of one of the busiest construction warehouses in the different industrial estates spread across the province of Barcelona. They wait for someone to pick them up to go to work on the construction site. In the shadow of the discourses that circulate in the sectors of political architecture, the music industry, design or contemporary artistic production, there continue to exist stories of resilience that form part of what these disciplines do not teach.

Some of these stories are grouped here, in the streets of industrial estates throughout the territory. But what is apparently just another example of the precariousness of culturally displaced or marginalised minorities hides a set of ephemeral and multidirectional stories that reveal forms of subsistence in precarity.

This is an artistic research proposal that aims to get rid of the imaginary that affirms that precariousness is a one-off event, an exception to the system. These scenarios of resilience, in which relationships are articulated on the margins of the rationalised economy, have a performative character.

Understanding the forces that bring together these collectives, at the limits of the governance of capital, where competition is at the same time alliance, creates diverse and effervescent communities that provide clues for a future and alternative livelihood.

The project is accompanied by Mario Santamaría.
