BE WATER, THEY SAID

Be water, they said is an experimental research project that aims to trace the symbolic and material correspondences between water, the body and the city through the phenomenon of circulation. This project is based on an absurd proposal: a collective survey of the water in Barcelona’s public fountains, following its path through the subsoil. By walking and drinking the water which flows from the city’s fountains, we trigger a threefold event: the water that circulates through the city, the water that circulates through our bodies and our bodies that circulate through the city. The proposal for an expanded form of research, anchored not only in reasoning but also in instinct, speculation, play and the memory of taste, seeks to make perceptible the invisible matter of the body of water and assert the possibility of seeing ourselves reflected in it.

The project has been supported by Enric Farrés Duran.
