I think about and translate a sentence by Cherrie Moraga: but the passage is through, not over, not around, more through. Her words bring me closer to a pressing physical sensation that is drawn in the exercise of writing. Making a bridge.
I embody this sculptural action as a transvestite gesture from the body, and it overflows that body, my body, and consequently overflows and overflows the space it takes up. I propose with this poetic exercise to escape from the gaze which expects something when entering the room and thus make a shift possible.
This newly produced work is the continuation of the processes I have been pursuing as part of my artistic practice over the last two years. Anchored in a dialogue between image and matter, I explore how these can speak and be channelled through the body.
