CONVOCATORIA Interna + Expos Pic 2024
The curatorial research program called Programa d’Investigació Curatorial (P.I.C.) is a learning and experimentation device in the field of artistic production and curatorship that aims to create a space for research and the generation of shared knowledge that explores, questions and responds critically to specific projects.
This programme is the result of a collaboration between the Sala d’Art Jove and the Centre de les Arts Lliures de la Fundació Joan Brossa, and is aimed at artists and researchers who have been selected as artists or researchers of Sala d’Art Jove over the last three years, who wish to get to know an exhibition process closely, and who have an interest in collective work and thought.
The Centre de les Arts Lliures is a creative factory that works from a structural tension in all its programming: the tension between memory and creation. The challenge is to work from the past to think about the future, and to remember the future we want by imagining new narratives that explain our history. The Programa d’Investigació Curatorial (P.I.C.) is thus located as field research into this tension based on curatorial language, understood here as a discursive, hybrid and performative installation practice. It is composed of a working team that always starts from a specific research context, proposed by the art centre, and which opens up questions for future programming.
The programme lasts six months and is divided into two stages: the first focuses on the creation of the space and the dynamics of the work through conversations, guided visits, workshops and other practices that help to get to know the exhibition process and the context of the project, with the necessary accompaniment from the centre’s team to assist in the generation of the primary research questions. The second phase consists of the development and realisation of an exhibition/performative/hybrid proposal, with a production budget, which is then exhibited in autumn at the Centre de les Arts Lliures.
In this 3rd edition, the P.I.C. team will work on the basis of the exhibition, Carles Santos, i ara què?, curated by Ona Balló.
