NARRAR LA HISTÒRIA ÉS NARRAR UN MITE
As an accompaniment to the piece una amazona és una amant que cavalca, we propose a workshop visit to the archive at Ca la Dona, the space hosting and overseeing the project. On the one hand, the activity seeks to resignify the mysticism surrounding spaces such as archives and, on the other, share the materials that have been part of the creative process, present in the final result only through an exercise in ekphrasis. From the open conversation with the volunteer activists involved in the project and contact (and touch) with several documents, we realise that an Amazon is a lover who rides, inviting us to imagine how many potential futures inhabit the same material, approaching it from various subjectivities and/or practices.
Warning: the material under discussion, documents linked to the lesbian feminist memory of Catalonia, is highly sensitive (physically and affectively). As such, participating in the activity implies a commitment to caring for the content and conserving it.
Several volunteer activists from the Ca la Dona Documentation Centre have collaborated: Basi García, Carlota Rubí, Elena Castro, Gemma Belmonte, Imma Balaguer, Laura Casellas, Mawada Zid, Mercè Otero, Muntsa Otero and Rebecca Schmitz.
This activity is part of the Esquinçar Superficies programme led by Renan Camilo, under the umbrella of the Art Jove Curadoria grant from Sala d’Art Jove.
This activity is a collaboration with Ca la Dona.
