Raquel Congusto is an architect, though her professional practice focuses on questioning the foundations of everything built; cities, relationships or bodies. Her work proposes imaginary worlds and fictions in public spaces and research into new narratives. She is the founder of lagaleriademagdalena and feminist network and workspace Frauhaus.

We will enter into a process of collective immersion to understand the world in which we lived before the COVID. The way in which space, cities and houses have been organised. What we have believed and what we have bought. What we thought we were and what we thought our body was. The success of the individual at the expense of other people or the planet. The hidden planet that supports these successes; depleted, agonised and calling for help, though nobody listens. From this point, by playing together, we will share and understand ourselves, accompanied by Joseph Beuys, Marina Garcés and Lina Bo Bardi. And without realising it, we will delve into fiction and the possibility of changing everything through play. We will draft policies and imagine other worlds with Ursula K. Le Guin. We will enter the throbbing darkness of the body, which we have heard so much during months of lockdown. We will talk about physical limits, isolation, and we will break down old beliefs one by one. We will work for a moment with Clarice Lispector and listen to our inner monsters, and when the workshop becomes a great monster, when our feet are rooted to the ground, we will gradually return. But we will no longer be the same. We will also be the others.

SPHERES: RELATOS DE LO ÍNTIMO A LO CÓSMICO

Alicia Kopf is visual artist and writer Imma Ávalos’s pseudonym. She is the author of ‘Modos de (no) entrar en casa’ and ‘Hermano de hielo’, translated into ten languages and winner of the Documenta 2015 and Llibreter 2016 awards, among others. She recently exhibited Speculative Intimacy at Galeria Joan Prats (2019) and Culturgest Lisboa (2020).

‘Spheres’ means an animated, lively space rather than a neutral one; a receptacle in which we are immersed. There is no life without spheres. We need spheres like air to breathe; they have been given to us, they always emerge again when humans come together, and extend from the intimate to the cosmic, passing through the global. […] Last but not least, the fecundity of a culture is measured by its ability to solve this problem from the passage of a smaller sphere to the next largest one. During lockdown, I began working with gel spheres; water repositories intended to keep plants continuously moist. Their meat-like consistency made me think about themes like fertility (and therefore the possibility of giving birth), the responsibility and pleasure of caring, and the future of the planet. In this workshop we will create stories related to the intimacy of the spheres from a sensory, sensual experience, in turn related to the cosmic; the gel spheres will be used as the base for the work.

Ariadna Guiteras’s practice unfolds around the body and performativity, exploring the materiality of the installation, performative and textual proposals in which the body is the resource (and the medium), touching on interrelated political, social and emotional issues.

Ariadna proposes a performance through which we will together immerse ourselves in her practice and interest in sharing materials, experiences and texts in an intimate and collective way, akin to the spiritualism sessions of the late nineteenth century.

EXTRATERRESTRES ARRAIGADOS

‘Extraterrestres arraigados’ seeks to open up spaces of thought for tackling, from a situated, rooted and displaced perspective, a critical analysis of the forms of colonisation and conquest, of the margins that define the other, forms of migration, identity and territory, of refuge as a home. We will examine how to give voice to stories that often lack one, representing that which often is not, using speculation as a way to create other narratives, non-linear stories that inhabit imagined temporalities, and that allow us to problematise cultural, social and historical constructions.
