ECOLOGÍAS, TERNURAS Y RIESGOS TÁCTICOS

A programme put together by the Sala d’Art Jove 2021 mediation team: Daniel López del Rincón and Víctor Ramírez Tur, art historians. The professors share a work space at the University of Barcelona. DERIVAS COREOPOLÍTICAS

Choreopolitics is a term used by the researcher specialising in performance André Lepecki in his article “Choreopolice and Choreopolitics: or, the task of the dancer” to refer to our body’s potential as a producer of political discourse. This choreographic enrichment, with activist connotations, is opposed to the concept of choreopolice, defined as the collection of set routines that asphyxiate, oppress and corrupt movements in public or urban spaces. Based on these concepts and recovering the situationist spirit of the ‘derivas’, psychogeographic maps and the power of wastelands, we propose a set of strategic walks focused on urban reflection and intervention and all its derived conflicts.

(A). DERIVA

with Francesc Muñoz, Doctor of Urban Geography (2004) and professor in the Geography Department at UAB.

Friday 28 May from 16:30 to 18:30
Ciutat Meridiana

The first in a set of choreopolitical ‘derivas’ that we will propose over the year at Sala d’Art Jove. Francesc Muñoz has repeatedly expressed the contradictions of late capitalist urbanisation and confronted nonuments and other logics of the brandification of cities, now transformed into pantone geographies. This tour will explore the informal sectors of urbanisation beneath the Meridiana thoroughfare in the north of the city. The experience is displayed as an urban and sensory immersion into a contradictory, suggestive, and, above all, unknown area. We inhabit the belly of the Meridiana from the inside.

(B). FUGAS INTERNAS

with Daniel López del Rincón and Víctor Ramírez Tur, mediation team at Sala d’Art Jove 2021.

Friday 28 May from 16:30 to 18:30
Ciutat Meridiana

A predetermined choreopolitical ‘deriva’ based on the lines of research, fugues and desires of urban intervention of the people selected in the Sala d’Art Jove 2021 call. Inevitably, we move through the powers of empty territory in parallel to the constant attempts at asphyxiation and urban choreopolicing.
