RECETAS PARA UNA COCINA COLECTIVA DE MATERIALES

Teacher and researcher, architect, designer and artisan Sara González de Ubieta Oliveros.

Drawing on the desire to generate collective research, we will create new materials through a communal cooking exercise. We will synthesise bioplastics and share recipes to bring us closer to the behaviour and processes of materials. This working group is based on experiencing matter as a way of learning through its own agency, beyond its outcome or final form.

¡PUAJ! SIMBIOSIS, PÓSITOS Y FLUIDOS MÁGICOS

Sonia G. Villar is part of the organisation DU-DA, where she cares for Laboratorio Rizoma and keeps it going.

In a permanent state of ebullience, of transformation – in the same way that ideas mutate, spill out and inspire change movements – fermentation materialises in bonds, according to how and with whom we create them. It involves us in living processes, with all the senses, at a visceral level. It prompts us to learn from the body, to trust our intuition, to pay attention, look, smell, listen, taste, explore the unpredictability of practices and poetics of microbial care.

During the workshop, we will learn how to cultivate and care for kombucha; a symbiotic community of bacteria and yeasts that organise themselves according to the cooperative foundations through which they self-conserve. We will share flavours, recipes and concoctions, exploring the material potential of the SCOBY (the gelatinous film of cellulose that grows and floats on the surface of the culture) and, as a collective probiotic installation, we will allow ourselves to be fermented and sedimented in the magical Sala d’Art Jove containers, filled with lively fluid with the power to transform over time.

COCCIONES PLÁSTICAS

‘Cocciones plásticas’ is a shared space where you can explore material, its mixtures and deformations. We will generate hybrids and digestions, cooking together and investigating the cooking processes of each one’s creations. We will question new plastic materials by analysing their contamination, fermentation and manners of degradation.
