The curatorial project Esquinçar superficies is inspired by Édouard Glissant’s ‘Poétique de la relación’; above all, his thoughts on the living world, addressing the whole as a process based on a metamorphosis of beings, linked by a relationship system in which the elements gathered are transformed and mobilised in a future of exchange.  

In this light, we conceive a programme of activities stimulated by a series of meetings proposing a potential space for reflection, thought and action, where theory and practice relate not only to the ways of creating images but also the “reflected density of existences”. This is how we express the willingness to scratch the surfaces of meaning to forge and convey research and artistic practices that rethink other sensitivities.

What does it mean to be sensitive to the materials we work with? How do desires articulate our ways of working? At our first meeting, philosopher and teacher Andrea Soto and artist Lúcia Prancha will discuss the concepts of material and erotic imagination of images based on artistic practices and Lúcia’s work, creating a space in which different desires, knowledge and materials come into contact.
