PARA ESCRIBIR POEMAS, NO SE BEBE AGUA
Eladio Aguilera presents the installation entitled ‘Para escribir poemas, no se bebe agua’ under the umbrella of Hangar Obert. The project was selected in the 2021 Art Jove Producció call and seeks to create a place of intervention and exchange.
‘Para escribir poemas, no se bebe agua’ is based on the community and strength of the consumption space as a relational contingency. The installation project is a construction, a kind of fort, made up of tables, chairs, handles and bottles. In this case, we approach the space from the outside, from the street, closed, as though waiting for it to open. The installation is conceived as a meeting device, in the same way as the place to which it refers. Through the collective imaginary, the history of cafes and bars is linked to the artistic and cultural effervescence of a city. This space includes the meeting point and dialogue, a dialectic and emotional construction of the relationships between acquaintances or those who have just arrived. The installation is a direct representation of what appears to be a bar façade; a closed drinking establishment with an unknown owner. The façade is everybody’s and nobody’s. In this way, the project intends to create an installation that aims to become a point of artistic intervention. A place that changes hands, from artist to artist, as words are exchanged in a chat at a round table.
