CLIMATE CARE. FLOATING UNIVERSITY BERLIN
Floating University is a self-organised space located in the city of Berlin, where professionals from a wide range of disciplines come together to collaborate, co-create and imagine the possibilities of the future. The association was consolidated in 2018 with the mission to open up, maintain and curate the territory in which it is located. Since then, it has been offering non-disciplinary, radical and collaborative programmes to the public. Floating University is organised in working groups that address different fields of knowledge and action: from the maintenance and development of the place to gardening, the cultivation of collaborations and the healing of neighbourhood connections.
From 21-30 September 2023, the Climate Care: Theory and Practice festival will be held at the Natureculture Learning Site under the care of Gilly Karjevsky & Rosario Talevi, a space for collective thought and discussion on climate challenges, the ethics of healing and the environmental humanities. The programme is the result of a profound coexistence of space and territory: the water infrastructure, its human culture and its multi-species overlaps.
Throughout the different sessions, questions will be posed that the festival hopes to address: how do we conserve space and territory while taking into account the challenges of our time? How do we seek, create and implement planetary alliances in a place of high local complexity?
