A few months ago, we wrote an email in which we started correspondence with different artists from Sala d’Art Jove 2022. It began with the phrase: “There are flames that have begun their path”, to distinguish that there are flames that spread silently and others that do so with a stronger impulse.

This publication is an ember, a living ash. It savours the many experiences we have shared throughout the year. Understood as a malleable and collective archive, this edition has the vibrant imprint of shared knowledge, the touches on alliances that are woven in a relaxed and slow way.

The publication begins from the ashes, as an element that both existed and remains, and approaches the processes, interests and formalizations of each of the artists. Then there is the moment in which the sparks burst, and a warm lightening helps new fires emerge. These trigger other fires that are the result of an anonymous cartography between the artists, of an epistolary circuit in which each response becomes a stimulus for the next. Thus, Diferents focs d’un mateix incendi is not a single ash nor is it a single fire, but rather an ecosystem of multiple voices, desires, concerns and problems that have converged at Sala d’Art Jove during 2022. We understand this edition as an open and procedural fragment that takes place in a time lapse that does not stop here and now, but belongs to a time lapse in which, perhaps after a couple of years, can transform into something else, and burn differently.

We conceived of the tour in a collaborative way, in dialogue with the artists of the Art Jove Creació 2022 and Col·lectiu Bord, formed by Aina Canyelles, Eduard Olesti and Iris Verge, who were selected in the Art Jove Curadoria 2022 call. This gathers the ideas presented by the programme of public shows related to Cartografíiess del foc, in which the curators understand Sala d’Art Jove as a map of the desires, concerns and maladies of the artists.

We relied on the collaboration of La Caldera for the creation of this publication. They welcomed us and inspired us to conceive it from the body itself. La Caldera provided us with a safe space in which we were able to explore synergies and share memories.

This edition aims to question itself, to rethink the contours and structures, to go beyond cataloguing in order to activate other ways of remembering and creating stories.
